How our God did plan the day, How He saw to each detail, For the Lamb of God was born in a stable And lay in a manger of hay. For to whom was this revealed But to shepherds tending their sheep Who went to find God's newborn Lamb Wrapped in swaddling clothes, asleep. Gifts were laid at His feet, Treasures brought to Him, Gold, frankincense and myrrh To Him who knew no sin. Gold symbolized His divinity, Frankincense, His purity, And myrrh His coming death and pain, For the spotless Lamb was born to be slain. Like the ram caught in the thicket, He wore thorns upon His head. Like Abraham, we know God has provided His Lamb to die in our stead. The Passover Lamb was slain The world's sins He did bear. His righteousness He gave to us So His holiness we could wear. Death's hold was broken; The price is paid, the blood was shed. He's purchased for God those who believe He is risen from the dead. A free gift is given to the bride of the Lamb, No more sickness, hunger, or pain. Eternal life in the Lamb of God. The Lamb our Light in whose book is our name. |
