You Lay Your Life Down | ||
Hereby perceive we the love of
God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16 Hymn tune by Thomas Turton, 1780-1864 St. Etheldreda C. M Right-Click Here to Download MIDI File |

You lay your life down willingly, The Father's wrath you bore To give your sheep eternal life, And joy forevermore. The Father handed you the cup; You took it from His hand. You drank it all down to the dregs, Redeeming sinful man. With pity and with love you looked Upon my wretched soul. Oh Lamb of God, you shed your blood And died to make me whole. You bore the cross, despised the shame Were cursed to set us free. Your holy life and righteousness Are credited to me. As far as east is from the west, You have removed my sin. You've changed my heart and made me new. Your Spirit dwells within. You lay your life down for your sheep, Then took it up again. You'll raise to life all who believe, And you will dwell with men.
